Little Donkey

About this story

Little Donkey follows Jenny and the Frogmorton Farm household into the local nativity play.

The vicar borrows Marilyn the donkey, and the preparations rapidly become complicated: washing Marilyn is hazardous, the casting has caused resentment, and Russell is stranded on the moor in a blizzard as the birth of his first child approaches.

In the site's view, this is a good choice for readers who want the farm's Christmas celebrations to include both comic disruption and a real family concern. Marilyn's participation gives the play its particular problem, while Russell's journey places something more important than theatrical success at stake.
